Job Title: Technical Customer Service Supervisor
Contract: Permanent Position
Salary: £32,000 per annum
Daily Hours: Monday to Thurday; 8:30am - 5:00pm
Friday; 8:30am to 13:30pm
Holidays: 25 Days Annual leave plus all UK bank holidays
BRIEF DESCRIPTIONS
- Provide ( pro-active ) technical advice to both external customers as well as internal customers (Sales Manufacturing, Marketing). Order entry, order checking, product selection
- Supervision of Customer Service Team ( 2 associates ).
- Work with colleagues or directly to provide engineered solutions in response to customer requests to suit specific applications. Establish and maintain relationship with customers in close collaboration with the Account Manager.
- Is expected to work with colleagues in other operational areas - Engineering, Manufacturing, ETO (Engineering to order) to share best practices and to deliver continuous improvement initiatives.
- A minimum HND in mechanical engineering is expected with a minimum of 2 years of experience in the field of mechanical power transmission or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in the field of mechanical engineering. Relies on broad experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals. Capable of working independently as well as in a team.
KEY TASKS
- Manage Action Plans and projects (where applicable)
- Working closely with colleagues in adjacent functional teams ( Engineering, ETO, Manufacturing ) to set-up & implement tools and processes to optimize workflow
- Provide adequate answers / solutions for specific technical questions and applications and inform customer or customer service accordingly
- To provide timely feedback to customers on applications
- Minimum HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Manufacturing experience advantageous.
- Knowledge of basic engineering design principles, general machine shop practice and technical applications.
- Calculations for product applications (TBC)
- Previous experience of mechanical power transmission product advantageous
- Knowledge of and experience using 2D CAD software (e.g. Inventor / SolidWorks / Creo) advantageous
- Knowledge of MRP & PDM Systems (Product Data Management System)
- Experience using PC software such as Microsoft Office.
- Good communication skills at all levels in the business – shop floor to business leadership
- Knowledge of other language advantageous
- Entrepreneurial attitude
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- Sound knowledge of key mechanical engineering principles.
- Knowledge of mechanical power transmission products – couplings, clutches and torque limiters.
- Knowledge of applications for power transmission products.
- Excellent communication/interpersonal skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, and able to communicate technical information in an easy to understand manner
- Some commercial knowledge and awareness an advantage.
