In this varied and rewarding role, you'll support CNC Programmer Setter Operators in the production process, ensuring machines run efficiently and safely. Your day-to-day will involve minding CNC machines, performing online inspections, assisting with benchwork and assembly, and maintaining the orderly environment of the machining area. Your role is pivotal in making sure the manufacturing process stays on track, up to standard, and safe for everyone on site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support CNC Setters in the safe and efficient running of CNC machines.
- Load and unload products and components from machines safely.
- Follow procedures for issuing and loading raw materials.
- Maintain machine coolant and oil levels to ensure optimal operation.
- Monitor and record key measurements during production runs, immediately raising concerns if non-conformance is identified.
- Perform visual inspections of components for defects and damage, recording findings diligently.
- Manage the movement and identification of products between areas.
- Prioritise general housekeeping of machines and surrounding areas.
- Handle and store equipment, tooling, and gauging safely and securely.
- Provide flexible support within other departments when needed, ensuring smooth workflow throughout.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Previous experience working with CNC turning machines or in a similar engineering environment.
- Proficient in using measurement tools such as micrometers and vernier callipers.
- Experience with inspection measuring equipment is advantageous.
- Reliable with a full UK driving licence (important for early shifts and commuting).
- Comfortable working in rotational shifts (early and late shifts) on a 39-hour week.
- Good attention to detail and a proactive approach to safety and quality.
- A team player with a positive attitude and willingness to support across departments when needed.
