Job Title:                                            Buyer     

Vacancy:                                             Permanent, Full time

Reports To:                                        Senior Buyer

Location:                                            Hungerford, Berkshire

Days/Hours:                                       Monday – Friday, 8am to 4pm

Hours Per Week:                               37.5

Salary:                                                £30,000 - £40,000                                                              

Purpose of the job: 

To take a proactive approach in reviewing current systems and procedures, making recommendations and implementing changes.  To lead the business forward in securing quality suppliers of materials, cost efficiencies and ensuring all raw materials are purchased as required for production demands, keeping stock holding at the optimum level.

 

Main duties & responsibilities:

  •          Effectively assist with a direct spend budget for commodities including Machining, Castings, Injection Moulding, Electrical, Raw Materials
  •          Drive supplier on-time deliveries and supplier quality performance in line with non-forecast demand
  •          Maintain accurate procurement conditions and other ERP information in a timely manner
  •          Monitor usage trends and known estimated future sales to minimise stock holding & obsolescence
  •          Assist in resolving goods inwards discrepancies
  •          Liaise with production staff and other internal parties
  •          Identify new suppliers, agree terms and negotiate supply agreements & contracts
  •          Actively participate in the continual improvement of purchasing methods and drive down external spend
  •          Present updates on new product introduction tasks, or other project requirements
  •          Monitor new trends and regulations in the business and market place
  •          Maximise Kanban & Consignment methodology to increase quality and efficiency
  •          Proactively assist with regulatory and company requirements for stock checks
  •          General administration and filing
  •          Undertake other tasks which may be required in order to assist the Operations function

Candidate requirements:

  •          Working within a similar position within procurement for at least 3 years
  •          Manufacturing background
  •          Preferably hold relevant qualifications such as CIPS
  •          Very good MS Office competency
  •          Full driving licence
  •          Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  •          Aware of best practice within procurement
