
Assistant Transport Controller
Monday to Friday, 11am to 7pm
Based in Swindon, SN3.
Temp to perm.
Overview:
The Transport Controller supports the smooth and efficient running of daily transport operations. They assist with planning routes, coordinating drivers, maintaining compliance, and ensuring high safety and performance standards across the transport team.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist with planning and scheduling routes, vehicle allocation, and departure times.

Monitor daily transport operations, addressing delays, issues, or non-compliance.

Conduct and record driver briefings, debriefings, and vehicle checks.

Ensure accurate and timely data entry into the transport management system.

Support the maintenance and servicing schedule of vehicles and trailers.

Liaise with drivers, subcontractors, and customers to resolve issues quickly.

Handle administration tasks such as driver paperwork, license checks, and container logs.

Support people management, including driver performance, absence monitoring, inductions, and agency cover.

Promote and enforce health and safety standards, reporting any hazards or incidents.

Ensure vehicles, equipment, and the working environment are safe, clean, and compliant.
Requirements:

Previous experience in a transport or logistics coordination role is - Advantageous.

Strong organisational and communication skills.

Ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure.

Good IT skills, including experience with transport management systems.

Knowledge of transport regulations, compliance, and driver hours - Advantageous.

A proactive approach to problem-solving and maintaining high safety standards.

Flexibility to work additional hours when required.
