The general purpose of this position is to ensure the smooth running of the of the Warehouse operations, ensuring that stock is processed with speed and accuracy and deliveries are dealt with in a timely manner. The successful applicant will also be responsible for developing the operational infrastructure, sourcing and processing sufficient levels of stock to keep all shops fully stocked to required levels.

This role would be of particular interest to those who come from a retail background or have knowledge and understanding of charities.

Responsibilities will include but will not be restricted to:

  • Having a clear understanding of in-house policies and vision and how the warehouse contributes to these.
  • To provide a customer focussed warehouse operation that maximises deliveries of quality stock to all shops as required, and provides a pro-active service to all shops.
  • To ensure regular liaison between the Warehouse team with the Area Manager and Shop Managers to understand and agree their stock requirements.
  • To be responsible for sourcing and procuring new goods for the retail network in consultation with Area Managers and Head of Retail.
  • Maintain income stream for E-Commerce
  • To keep accurate records of rag & re-cycling income.
  • To maximise the value of all donated items, by product knowledge and appreciating resale values and appropriate routing of stock to outlets.
  • Responsible for the recruitment and training of staff/volunteers, as well as monitoring staff performance and progress.
  • Motivating, organising and encouraging teamwork within the workforce to ensure productivity targets are met or exceeded.
  • Maintaining standards of health and safety, hygiene and security in the work environment.
  • Overseeing the planned maintenance of vehicles, machinery and equipment.
  • To support the Head of Retail by undertaking any other tasks and projects as appropriate to the job.
  • To deputise for the Head of Retail internally and at external events as appropriate to the warehouse operation.


  • Track record of successful delivery in warehouse management.
  • Experience of managing a large staff & volunteer team, including recruitment and development.
  • Track record of providing excellent customer service.
  • Good standard of general education including GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above.
  • Essential: Full driving license.
  • Ability to implement high quality standards and working methods alongside innovative practices.
  • Ability to analyse working practises, maximise outputs and motivate staff and Volunteers.
