Our client is looking to strengthen the team by recruiting for a Technical Purchasing Engineer focusing on developing short term and future Engineering procurement strategy for line improvement projects and future new model projects.
* This role is a 12 month fixed term contract *
The role includes:
- New supplier investigation & development
- Supporting group Leader with all Group business plan activity
- Working with Engineering planning groups to understand future project requirements
- Compiling cost spreadsheets for cost comparison activity, and developing cost down strategy.
- Liaising with other departments with regards to spec, delivery schedules, trials, cost etc.
- All day to day purchasing group activity
Essential skills required are:
- Experience in tooling manufacture.
- Understanding of Body in white accuracy.
- Must be able to present clearly to senior management and have good communication skills at all levels.
- Understanding of engineering drawings paper and Cad.
- Flexibility to support other projects as workload demands.
- Computer literate in MS word, Excel & PowerPoint.
- Flexible and adaptable to constantly changing requirements of the business.
- Recognized relevant Engineering qualifications.
- Recognized relevant Business study qualifications.
Desirable Skills Requires are:
- Recognized relevant purchasing qualifications. (CIPS)
- Project Management experience.
- Flexible approach to work with a willingness to work weekends if required, and to support other team members if required .
- Willingness to travel overseas, possibly long periods and at short notice.
- Demonstrable experience of problem solving & implementation of countermeasures.
- SAP (MM Module) experience preferred
