Job Title:                    Mechanical and Electrical Engineer (M&E Engineer)

Location:                    Swindon

Term:                          Permanent

Salary:                         DOE plus company Van

Days / Hours:             Mon-Fri onsite 08:00 – 17:00 (Excluding Bank Holidays which are covered by the on-call Rota) on call outside of these hours, the sites are operational 365 days a year.

Other info:                 Must have full UK driving licence - You will cover both Swindon and Bristol sites. Van and Fuel card included


Role Summary

  • Part of a team who are responsible for delivering & ensuring all facility PPM’s are carried out to schedule
  • Ensure completion of all reactive work requests ensuring closing and completion in line with SLA’s
  • Ensure maintenance is carried out in line with company H&S procedures.
  • Able to apply a risk-focused maintenance approach to operations of plant and systems supplying the data centres/critical environments 
  • As part of a team of 4 provide out of hours emergency response standby. Respond to work interruptions, outages or emergencies.
  • Completion of records, logs and other spreadsheets required to demonstrate delivery of maintenance, Services and reactive works.
  • Control and supervise contractors as necessary.
  • Raise recommendations for improvements through line Supervisor.
  • Training requirements and development program including competency assessments and QHSE are essential and may be run in London or Manchester as well as local.
  • Late notice emergency shift working for short periods of time may be essential if running with a major issue until it is resolved, not a regular occurrence.
  • Will be put through MOD Security Clearance process.
  • Able to use P.C. software examples being Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Participate in audits – PCI, ISO, Client, QHSE being examples.
  • Cover both Swindon and Bristol sites on a Rota basis 1 hour to site.

Experience Required: 

  • Self-motivated delivery of M&E tasks (both preventative and reactive)
  • Knowledge of emergency response / standby / call out activities and protocols
  • Be or have the ambition to become an Authorized Person
  • H&S focused
  • Ability to deal with conflicting priorities.
  • 18th Edition Electrical Wiring Regulations & 2391-52 Testing & Inspection
  • BMS Controls Experience / HVAC Experience
  • Experience of operation of UPS, Standby Power and Critical Environment Cooling would be an advantage
  • Quick to respond and work well under pressure
  • Working knowledge of F-Gas an advantage
