Job Title HR and Health & Safety Manager
Location Swindon

Main Purpose of the Role:

  • Deliver HR advice and support to staff
  • Manage the end to end recruitment
  • Support the Group Compliance Manager by being the first point of contact for health & safety issues at the Swindon site
  • Act as site contact for the Swindon site

 

Main Responsibilities:

Recruitment & Selection

  • Provide support for the whole recruitment cycle. 
  • Working closely with Line Managers
  • Creating and advertising job specifications.
  • Acknowledgement and administration of CV's
  • Assist with interview and selection processes

HR Support

  • Assist the Head of HR in providing front line HR support for employee queries, liaising face to face and via telephone
  • Arrange and coordinate disciplinary, absence management, grievance and performance management meetings in line with company policy.
  • Assist with the delivery of the HR element of the induction process
  • Arrange training, maintaining training records within the HR software system
  • Work on HR projects as directed

Health & Safety and Compliance

  • Compile information and maintain H&S training standards on site
  • Assist with the prevention of accidents by raising safety awareness on site
  • Complete accident reporting and investigations
  • Undertake local risk assessments
  • Support the Group Compliance Manager by booking meetings/rooms, taking of minutes and distribution of HSE Committee minutes.
  • Maintain HSE Action Plan and issue workaround checklists and chase actions.
  • Be site central point of contact/communication for HSE
  • Carry out and progress HSE Inductions.
  • Keep all HSE training records, sign-offs etc.
  • Feedback any HSE issues raised from Return to Work interviews.
  • Be the first aider.
  • Be a fire warden.
  • Be the central point of contact for fire alarm & Security.
  • Carry out Risk Assessments.
  • Issue HSE Policies, bulletins and keep records.
  • Manage Safety Shoe and Eye protection Policy
  • Replenish PPE and First Aid kits.
  • Retain contractor RAMS.
  • Organise PAT testing.
  • Organise Face Fit Testing, health surveillance, etc

Site

  • Order all stationery items
  • Act as a coordinator for the charity committee
  • Order tea, coffee and milk and manage the on-site vending provision
  • Manage the contract cleaning company and on-site cleaner
  • Act as a fleet coordinator for Swindon based fleet vehicles and manage the pool vehicle issue process
  • Act as a site contact for site maintenance issues, liaising with the Property & Logistics Director as necessary.

 

Key Accountabilities / Success Factors:

  • Effective recruitment in line with job role requirements, organisational culture and in line with recruitment budgets
  • Provide trusted, confidential and supportive HR assistance to the Kitchen Business Unit Management Team
  • The role is the integral link between the operational teams, health & safety and HR.

 

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Experience of recruitment and using recruitment tools
  • Experience of working within HR team with an awareness of  basic employment law
  • Experience of managing disciplinary, attendance management and performance management reviews
  • Experience of managing health & safety processes, including carrying out risk assessments
  • Strong Excel and reporting skills

  • CPP and/or CIPD qualification desirable
  • Previous experience of working in Health & Safety, ideally with an IOSH Managing Qualification.
