About the role

Reporting to the Head of Design, this role manages, monitors and supports the day to day design process, from initial conception through to on-site completion. You will have a key focus on interacting with relevant stakeholders whilst leading and developing your direct reports to ensure the implementation is in line with business requirements, design guidelines and customer specifications.

 

Key responsibilities will include the following:  

  • Lead the design team and process to suit both needs of the business and compliance with relevant regulations and requirements.
  • Oversee design review and submissions (G81/BS7871), acting as the reference/escalation point for queries from IDNO/DNO's.
  • Prepare concept scheme designs and communicate these with appropriate parties to build proposals.
  • Oversee the production of schematic diagrams from basic philosophy or engineer’s sketches.
  • Complete audits and input into quality assurance on new and existing facilities to ensure installations are in line with both the design intent and best practices.
  • Lead the design team in verification, validation, and certification of designs.
  • Day to day management of design department, including supporting development opportunities and mentoring.
  • Liaise with commercial on scope specification and context for design.
  • Manage design registers in line with NERS requirements.
  • Manage design data and records in line with ISO requirements.
  • Ensure proper engineering rigour on Designs for safety for LV-33KV projects.

 

Candidate Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical or Construction Engineering or equivilent
  • Able to teach and share your expertise and knowledge about working with a DNO or IDNO? 
  • 2 years experience in People Management? 
  • Experienced in using AutoCAD, Amtec or Windebut? 
  • Experience in leading and implementing design strategies?
